Lab: Explainable AI
In the lab “Explainable AI”, we encourage lab participants to find limitations of current explainable AI topics and explore novel solutions of these. Students are expected to work on their own topics, simulating how research works in practice and preparing them for their master thesis.
To be considered for the lab, we ask you to submit a short proposal (maximum half a page) describing the project you would like to work on to amllab[at]bit.uni-bonn.de. Please make sure your proposal addresses the following points:
- What is your idea?
- How is it connected to explainability in AI?
- Will you need data, and if so, where will you obtain it?
- How much compute will you need, and where will you obtain it?
- Is the project realistic to complete within the semester?
Lab Activities
- Choose-your-own-research: Students will choose their own research topic and develop it on their own.
- Midterm Milestone: A mid-term presentation to share progress, challenges, and insights.
- Showcasing Innovations: Each student presents their original contributions in a final presentation (graded).
- Report: The lab concludes with writing a lab report (graded).
- Publication opportunity: If the lab report is of extraordinary quality, we will try to get it published with the student as the first author.
